One of the first things we remember about traveling to Canggu for the first time was how health-conscious all of the restaurants were.

It seems like everywhere here has healthy food options, such as gluten-free bread, organic juice, alternative milk options, health shots, and a few vegan restaurants. This was one of the reasons we fell in love with the town and moved here earlier this year!

Almost every restaurant in Canggu serves vegan-friendly options, from plant-based burgers to jackfruit tacos and tofu curries.

But it’s the completely vegan restaurants that do it best, so here are

Here are the best vegan restaurants in Canggu (and some vegan cafes) to try if you want a healthy, guilt-free meal.

1. Alkaline

Alkaline is the restaurant/grocery store at the front of Serenity Eco Guesthouse.

Their motto is “Let our food be your medicine,” and their menu has some of Canggu’s most affordable and delicious dishes. They only use whole food ingredients, and most of their dessert menu is gluten, dairy, egg, and sugar-free!

We particularly love the tofu coconut curry, and Sarah got the Cacao Bliss bowl almost every other day after spin class at ZYCLE!

We would often grab a snack or lunch after morning yoga here, and it’s such a wholesome and eco-friendly space.

Not only is this one of the best vegan restaurants in Canggu, but it’s also one of the coolest places to stay in the area, as well as one of the top yoga studios in town.

Average Entree Cost: 50-75k per person
Opening Hours: 8:00 AM – 9:30 PM
Location: Batu Bolong

2. Secret Spot Canggu

We stumbled upon a Secret Spot by accident one day. We were trying to go to Blacklist Coffee Roasters across the street but had to park in front of Secret Spot. We took a peek in, and it looked like a great atmosphere to grab some coffee, have dinner, and get some work done.

There’s an air-conditioned area where most people have laptops out getting work done and a two-floor open-air seating area out back with a cocktail bar!

We thought they had many options for a vegan restaurant, and the gluten-free vegan break was the best we’ve had in Bali.

Average Entree Cost: 50-90k per person
Opening Hours: 7:00 AM – Midnight
Location: Batu Bolong / Berawa

3. I Am Vegan Babe

I Am Vegan Babe is a chic restaurant near Echo Beach, right next to Shady Shack. It’s a super aesthetic cafe that’s completely vegan.

You won’t find anything on their menu that’s animal-derived, including honey which is perfect for people who take their diet very seriously.

Of all the vegan restaurants we visited in Canggu, this is one of the busiest. It’s AWAYS packed. They have two floors. The top floor is really spacious and better for people looking to get some work done, while the bottom floor is all open air.

We came here for breakfast before heading to the beach. We ordered coffee and coconut oatmeal. It was a little pricy for what you get, but delicious.

We also got a ginger shot, which came with fresh orange juice and lime juice as chasers.

Average Entree Cost: 75-90K per person
Opening Hours: 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Location: Echo Beach

4. Oma Jamu Vegan

Oma Jamu is one of the best cheap vegan eateries in Canggu. It’s a typical warung in Bali, meaning that all of the food is served cafeteria style, but because it’s so popular, the food is almost always still hot!

Their most popular meal is the five-dish ‘buffet,’ which includes rice and four other food options for just 42k ($2.80).

This is a great deal, and the entire menu is completely vegan, so you can be sure you won’t unknowingly have some egg or dairy products.

You can anticipate a decent amount of fried vegetables and tofu dishes, and it’s one of the only warungs that also serves specific breakfast dishes like porridge, coconut yogurt, pancakes, and fresh fruit!

Average Entree Cost: 40-50K per person
Opening Hours: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Location: Batu Bolong

5. Shady Shack

Shady Shack has been a fan favorite in Canggu for years and opened in 2016 as one of the first sustainable, fully vegan restaurants we tried in Bali.

It’s completely open-air and located on the same street as I AM Vegan Babe, meaning it’s right in the heart of Canggu and easy to get to no matter where you’re staying in town.

The prices are much cheaper than those of other vegan restaurants in Canggu. Most of the bowls and dishes are around 70K for breakfast, and the vegan burgers and main dinner platters are closer to 90K.

The menu offers an array of Buddha bowls, salads, jackfruit tacos, an all-day breakfast, and even cauliflower steak!

Average Entree Cost: 65-90K per person
Opening Hours: 7:30 AM – 10:30 PM
Location: Echo Beach

6. Kynd Community

Kynd Community has two locations. Their main location is in Seminyak, but they’ve expanded to include a new location in Canggu.

The pink-themed vegan cafe is open seven days a week. Until 2023, it operated a sister cafe called GIVE, where 100% of the profit went to funding Indonesian charities.

This doesn’t really affect the food, but we appreciate it whenever we know that the businesses we support have the best intentions.

Kynd is a trendy brunch spot in Canggu, but we actually came here for their ’50K+ pasta night’ and had their pesto rigatoni.

But they have pretty much all the vegan options you could think of, like Mexican burritos, Vietnamese pho, cauliflower wings, vegan butter chicken curry, and vegan burgers!

Cost: 75-95K per person
Opening Hours: 7:30 AM – 10:00 PM
Location: Batu Bolong

7. The Cure Health Kitchen

The Cure Vegan Kitchen is located in Berawa, near some of our favorite coffee shops and Secret Spot’s other locations.

Their entire menu is 100% plant-based and similar to Alkaline; they pride themselves in the concept of food as medicine, using absolutely no processed ingredients, GMO, MSG, or other chemicals in their food.

Even though Sarah and I are not completely vegan, we really appreciate clean ingredients. With almost everywhere in Bali using seed oils and other processed ingredients, this was a welcome relief with good food and nice portions.

They have many quick meals for people who want to grab a quick meal on the go, and they recently started promoting a one-day juice cleansing program to all new customers!

Average Entree Cost: 65-100K per person
Opening Hours: 7:30 AM–10:30 PM
Location: Berawa
