Crete At A Glance

Welcome to Crete, Greece! If you are considering a trip to Crete, we can’t encourage you more!

We’ve explored every nook and cranny of this Mediterranean island, from the busy streets of Chania and Rethymno to the ancient sites in Heraklion and the serene hidden beaches on the south coast.

Chania stole our hearts with its Venetian architecture and delicious food. While Heraklion impressed us with its history–especially the Minoan Palace of Knossos–and Rethymno was so beautiful with its quaint cobblestone streets!

However, our most memorable experiences were found along the south coast. Loutro’s secluded beaches and Agia Roumeli’s rugged cliffs are stunning! And since we got to visit during the shoulder season, we were some of the only people on the beaches.

We even rented our own private boat for a day out on the Mediterranean!

We learned A LOT during our time in Crete, including the best times to visit, where to stay, the best places to eat, how to get around, and more!

Let us help and encourage you to take a trip to Crete by providing you with practical tips and personal insights into the island and all it has to offer.

Explore Chania

Chania is a famous town on Crete’s northwest coast and is usually the first place we would recommend adding to your Crete itinerary! It’s a charming mix of old-world architecture and lively Greek culture. The Old Venetian harbor, lined with colorful boats and ancient buildings, was our favorite place to grab a seaside dinner! But during the days, we spend a lot of time taking day trips to surrounding beaches, historical sites and nearby cities you can reach by bus.

Explore Southern Crete

South Crete is dotted with various beach towns, along with a rugged terrain and cliffs next to the ocean. One of our favorite experiences of our entire life was renting a boat and beach hopping along the beaches near Loutro, such as Marmara Beach. Some of our favorite town included Plakias, Chora Sfakion, Agia Galina, Matala Beach, and Preveli Beach!

Explore Heraklion

Heraklion, a lively city located on Crete’s northern coast, known for its Minoan Ruins! Walking through its streets, you’ll find ancient ruins, delicious restaurants, and lots of shopping. The highlight for us was exploring the Minoan Palace of Knossos and museum, with incredible artifacts from ancient civilization. Whether you’re coming to Heraklion for the history or the city life, you’l have a great time!
