The Azores At A Glance

The Azores are a collection of nine islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Despite being over 1,500 kilometers off Portugal’s shore, they are a territory of Portugal.

São Miguel is the largest and most popular island in the Azores, and it’s also where we have the most travel experience.

It feels so much different than mainland Portugal. Sometimes, we couldn’t believe that we were still in Europe!

The island is full of hot springs, dormant volcanoes, massive lakes in the calderas, waterfalls, and beautiful beaches. The vegetation is so lush and vibrant, too. If it were warmer, it would almost feel tropical. We honestly kept questioning if we were still in Europe!

All that said, we’re very excited to share more details about our travels through the Azores, specifically São Miguel, and help you plan your own trip!
